How do I know if OT is right for me/my child?

Occupational therapy can support individuals with a variety of unique needs. Frequently addressed areas include fine motor, gross motor, sensory processing, self-care, and executive functioning. How can you book a session with Playworks?

Where will your sessions happen?

Accepted Answer

You get support in the places that matter most. Therapy sessions can happen in your home, at your child’s daycare, preschool, or private school. Virtual support is also available for advocacy and other services when it makes sense for you.

Do you serve my area?

You can receive in-person services in Collinsville, IL and within 20 miles of ZIP code 62234. If you’re outside that area, travel fees may apply and scheduling will be dependent on therapist availability. Virtual appointments are also available for clients anywhere in Illinois at no extra charge.

Do you take insurance?

Playworks is a private-pay practice, so we are considered out-of-network with your insurance provider. You will pay for therapy at the time of your visit, and if you’d like, you can also request a superbill to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement.

Can you get a superbill for your insurance?

Yes. Since Playworks is private pay, you can request a superbill after your visit. It includes the details your insurance company may need if you want to submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement.

Do you offer parent coaching?

Yes. Parent coaching is a big part of Playworks. We’ll work together on practical strategies you can use during meals, play, dressing, homework, and other everyday routines. The goal is to make support fit your real life, not add more to your plate.

Can you help with IEPs and 504 plans?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We offer special education advocacy support for evaluations, IEPs, and 504 plans. That can include reviewing documents, helping you prepare for meetings, and supporting you in understanding your child’s needs and next steps. You’re not meant to figure it out alone.

What happens during the first OT visit?

The first visit is all about understanding your child and your daily routines. We’ll talk through your concerns, look at strengths and challenges using formal and/or informal evaluation measures, and decide what support makes the most sense. If additional therapy or coaching is recommended, I’ll walk you through the next steps. No pressure. Just a calm place to start.
